Despite being a professional language teacher, music has always played a central role in Gabrielle Avanzi’s life. She has sung in a number of choirs and has a deep interest in Irish and Scottish music.
Upon being asked why she commenced playing the harp, she said she had been ‘seduced by the sonorous sounds of the instrument’.
Currently, Gabrielle mostly accompanies singers and storytellers, but she is equally at home in larger groups.
She is part of the harp quartet 'Les Flammes Celtiques' and the harp duo 'Harpentaire' and has been a member of the Swiss Celtic Harp Ensemble since its foundation.
