Yannick Gábor Kadvány-Hochuli

Yannick at Scoil na gCláirseach 2012
Yannick Gábor Kadvány-Hochuli, who is of Swiss and Hungarian origin, is the youngest and the only male member of the Ensemble. He started playing the violin at an early age and switched to Irish harp at the age of 13. Yannick has always been fascinated with the culture and musical tradition of Ireland and Scotland. He is currently living and studying in Glasgow, Scotland, where he is focusing on the ancient wire-strung harp of Ireland and Scotland, as well as traditional fiddling.
Just like Karen, Yannick is also highly interested in the historical aspects of playing the harp and is currently studying the technique and repertoire of the cláirseach (or clàrsach), also known as early Gaelic harp. Together with her, he participated in Scoil na gCláirseach 2011 in Kilkenny, where they discovered the ancient brass-strung instrument for themselves and had the fantastic opportunity to learn from three of the world's leading cláirseach specialists: Ann Heymann, Siobhán Armstrong, and Andrew Lawrence-King.
